Our mole map Essendon service is designed to provide early detection of potential skin issues, including melanoma and other forms of skin cancer.

At Dermascan we offer Fotofinder bodystudio ATBM for Automated Total Body Mapping which is the benchmark when it comes to the management of high-risk patients for melanoma, allowing us to document and analyse skin and moles superfast and with high accuracy.

During your Automated Total Body Mapping appointment, you will meet one of our lovely Melanographers who are registered nurse and has completed a specialised course through the Australasian College of Dermatology.

They are experienced in performing mole map skin checks and identifying different types of skin cancers.

They will perform a total body skin check and use a special instrument called a dermatoscope to analyse skin lesions at high resolution.

For the Automated Total Body Mapping various images will be taken as you pose in different positions until your entire body is photographed (excluding the scalp where there is hair). The Artificial Intelligence will then identify those pigmented lesions and circles each one.

As you return for your yearly skin checks the same photographs will be taken and the Artificial Intelligence will identify:

  1. Those lesions that are unchanged
  2. Those lesions that were present the previous year but have changed
  3. Those lesions that are new and have developed since your last skin check

The Melanographer will then complete the full body skin check and hone in to those lesions that have been identified as having changed or are new.
